ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The 2024-25 VMI basketball season came to a close Sunday night as the No. 7 seed Keydets fell to No. 6 seed Wofford College by an 85-65 score in the SoCon Tournament semifinals at Harrah's Cherokee Center in Asheville, North Carolina.

With the loss, VMI finishes with a 15-19 overall record while the Terriers advance to the championship game to face Furman University Monday night.

Game Summary
VMI kept pace early on with the Terriers for the opening 10 minutes but then went cold midway through as the Keydets went over six minutes without a field goal, staying in contention by way of free throws.  During the VMI scoring drought, the Terriers took advantage and pulled ahead, 37-21, at the 5:47 mark to force a VMI timeout following a Luke Flynn three-pointer.

The Terriers were effective in the paint early on and scored 18 points in penetration while Corey Tripp logged 13 points in the first half by hitting three of four three-pointers.

VMI hit 11 of 13 free throws in the opening half but shot 35 percent from the field as the Keydets converted seven of 20 field goals during the first 20 minutes.

During the second half, the Keydets continued to show fight and hustle, but the Terriers continuously responded with three-pointers and big shots on the other end to gradually build an insurmountable 25-point lead with 11:19 left in regulation.
