LEXINGTON, Va. – VMI Rifle is set to compete in the 2025 Southern Conference Rifle Championships hosted by Georgia Southern this Saturday and Sunday. The action will take place at the Shooting Sports Education Center in Statesboro, Georgia.
Smallbore competition will begin Saturday at 8 a.m., with the finals scheduled for 3 p.m. Air rifle follows on Sunday with the first relay at 7:45 a.m. and the finals scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m.
Last Time Out
The Keydet Rifle Teams (both shooting 4561) were in action last Saturday, finishing second to No. 5 TCU, but outshooting The Citadel Coed team (4559). The Mixed Team totaled 207 center tens, with the women's team tallying 202.
Ryan Harlow had the top individual score, posting an 1160, while
Adrianna Sanders led the women's squad with a 1154.
Key Notes
As a whole, VMI Rifle has had a strong 2024-25 campaign, cracking the top-20 twice, while the women's program broke their own aggregate record three times, and was just two points shy of tying it last weekend.
Ryan Harlow is at the top of the list with an aggregate of 1151, pacing the teams with a smallbore average of 569 and an air rifle average of 581.
Victoria Phillips has been a strong performer, checking in with a 1134 aggregate. On the women's side,
Darian Tweedell and
Elizabeth Stann are 1-2 with respective aggregates of 1141 and 1136.
Scouting the Opponents
The Southern Conference boasts three teams in the top 20. Host and reigning SoCon Champion Georgia Southern check in at No. 4, followed by North Georgia (19) and UAB (20).
