LEXINGTON, Va. – VMI Wrestling capped off its home slate with a dominating 29-10 victory over Presbyterian Thursday night at Cormack Hall.
The Keydets (6-11, 2-6 SoCon) pick up their second Southern Conference victory and snap a four-match skid after putting up 30 unanswered points against the Blue Hose.
Presbyterian started the match hot, scoring 10 points as VMI went into the 149-pound bout with negative one point after an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. Despite the slow start, the Keydets kicked into gear, tallying the next 30 points.
It started with a forfeit at 149 pounds and followed with a
Ray Cmil 7-6 decision at 157 pounds that came down to the wire, cutting the Blue Hose lead to just two.
Logan Chambers secured a massive win at 165 pounds, earning a 9-1 major decision. It took just under four and a half minutes for 184-pounder
Braxton Lewis to record a 16-0 technical fall right before 197-pounder
Toby Schoffstall turned it up a notch, earning a 15-0 technical fall in 1:27.

Luke Hart and
Josh Evans each picked up victories in their final bouts at Cormack Hall. Hart earned a 12-4 major decision before Evans ended the night with a 10-3 decision.
