LEXINGTON, Va. – VMI Baseball brought out the brooms Sunday afternoon, earning a four-game sweep over Maryland Eastern Shore at Lamore Field at Gray-Minor Stadium.
The Keydets, who move to 4-0, posted nine runs in the final three innings to earn a 14-8 victory over the Hawks on Military Appreciation Sunday. With the four wins, VMI is now 19-0 against UMES. For the first time since 2010, VMI has won their first four contests of the season while tallying 54 runs, the most in program history. It is also the first time in program history that the Keydets have scored double-digit runs in their first four games.

Scoring Summary
- Once again, VMI struck first, plating two after back-to-back RBIs by Torres and
Bradley Garner.
- The Hawks were able to pick up five runs in a big second inning.
- The Keydets got one back in the second inning after a wild pitch scored Perry and then another in the third frame off an RBI groundout by
Kazuya Jordan to cut the deficit to just one.
- Despite adding another run in the fourth to make it a two-run game, VMI was able to score on a UMES balk, making it a 6-5 UMES advantage.
- The Keydets' bats woke up in the final three innings, combining for nine runs, starting with four in the sixth, one in the seventh, and four more in the eighth.
- Raile's solo shot tied the game before Peterson singled in one run and Jordon sacrificed two more to flip the script, 9-6.
- UMES tried to answer, but Raile sent one long over the leftfield scoreboard for a three-run home run in the eighth to cap off the Keydets' evening.
Next up for the Keydets
The Keydets hit the road for the first time in 2025, heading to Richmond to face the Spiders on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. before going up to Coppin State for a weekend series starting Friday.
