DAVIDSON, N.C. – VMI Wrestling had the lead with three bouts to go, but Davidson went on a late surge to defeat the Keydets Friday night at John M. Belk Arena.
The Keydets (5-10, 1-5 SoCon) fell to the Wildcats, 21-16, to close out the three-game road trip.
Davidson started the match with a strong 8-0 advantage before VMI secured three straight wins to flip the script, 13-8. 184-pounder
Braxton Lewis started the surge with a 10-0 major decision for his fourth SoCon victory. Following up were wins by
Toby Schoffstall at 197 pounds with a 19-3 technical fall and
Braxton Lewis at 285 pounds with a 10-2 major decision.
Cody Tanner closed out the Keydets' evening with an 8-1 decision at 133 pounds, adding to VMI's 16-11 lead. However, the Wildcats would score the final 10 points to secure the win.
