LAS VEGAS, Nev. – VMI Wrestling closed out the 43
rd Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational Friday afternoon at the Westgate Hotel Paradise Event Center.
The Keydets faced a talented field consisting of various tournament-ranked programs, including No. 8/10 Michigan, No. 9/10 Stanford, No. 17/18 Virginia Tech, No. 26/29 Cal Poly, No. 30 Navy, No. 36 Rider, and No. 44 Northern Illinois (InterMat & FloWrestling). In the group of opponents, VMI faced 11 ranked wrestlers (InterMat & FloWrestling).
The Keydets had a pair of bout victories from 149-pounder
Patrick Jordon and 165-pounder
Ryan Vigil. Jordon tallied a first-period pin in the opening round that advanced him to the round of 16, where he would hold the third-ranked 149-pounder Lachlan McNeil to a tight decision. Meanwhile, Vigil earned a decision on the consolation side of the bracket.

The Keydets host their second tri-meet of the season on December 20 at Cormack Hall. VMI will welcome Bloomsburg and Sacred Heart. The Huskies and Pioneers will face off at 11 a.m. in a neutral battle, before VMI takes on Sacred Heart at 1 p.m., followed by Bloomsburg at 3 p.m.
