Last Time Out: VMI 86, Loyola (Md.) 70 – Tuesday, December 9, 2025
Powered by 13 threes on the night – including seven by sophomore Linus Holmstrom – the VMI basketball team earned a hard-fought 86-70 win over visiting Loyola University (Md.) Tuesday, December 9 at Cameron Hall.

Holmstrom paced VMI (5-7) to a dominant 51-32 lead at the half by way of his seven threes all in the opening half as he hit seven of nine attempts during the first 20 minutes including one just five seconds into the game. The Greyhounds (4-7) put a defensive emphasis on the Sweden native during the second half but he still finished the game with a game-high 23 points, two shy of his career high set last month against VU Lynchburg.

About Radford (5-8)
The Highlanders have a nearly identical record to the Keydets to this point of the season with five wins and eight losses following their 96-83 defeat to William & Mary Thursday night in Williamsburg.

Radford has wins over Western Illinois, West Virginia Wesleyan, Notre Dame (Md.), Saint Francis and Coppin State this season while falling to the likes of #18 North Carolina, Wright State, South Carolina, UNC Wilmington, SMU and Southern Miss.

The Highlanders are led by Dennis Parker, Jr., who is averaging 19.0 points per contest while Del Jones is also averaging double figures at 14.5 points per game.

Tyson Brown leads the team in rebounding at 6.8 boards per game while Jaylon Johnson is the best defender with 26 steals through 13 games. Brown also leads the squad in blocks with 14 thus far.

Radford Head Coach Zach Chu is in his first season at the helm of the program.

All-Time Series (22-23)
The all-time series with Radford has been extremely competitive with VMI owning 22 wins to Radford's 23. The schools competed regularly when VMI was a member of the Big South from 2003-14. The Keydets and Highlanders have played four times since that era, with the Highlanders claiming three wins out of the four contests. VMI last defeated Radford in December 2022 by a close 77-74 count, while the Highlanders earned a 73-56 win the last time the schools met in Radford in December 2023. The series took a hiatus last season. VMI looks to even the all-time series count with a win to create 23 wins apiece for each program.
