The Keydets return to Cormack Hall after a successful weekend against Emory & Henry and No. 11 Michigan. VMI went 1-1 after easily handling the Wasps at home, 59-0, and left Ann Arbor with experience against a nationally-ranked Wolverines squad, 45-0.
Six Keydets racked up falls in the home opener over Emory & Henry, with four pins coming in under two minutes. Against Michigan, VMI did not earn a bout victory, but a different perspective finds success in the dual. 149-pounder
Patrick Jordon held Intermat's No. 3 wrestler and three-time All-American Lachlan McNeil to a tight 7-2 decision, leading to SoCon Wrestler of the Week honors.
Head Coach
Jim Gibson returns to his alma mater (Edinboro '07), where he was the 197-pound Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference champion and qualified for the NCAA Championships his senior season. Edinboro Head Coach and former 157-pounder Matt Hill (Edinboro '07) was Gibson's teammate during their time with the Scots, competing together at the NCAA Championships in 2007.
For Edinboro, this will be their first dual of the season after competing in the Michigan State Open last weekend. The Scots had four placers at the tournament, including one first-place mark at 165 pounds.
Last season, it was the Scots who bested the Keydets, 41-4, at Cormack Hall. VMI is searching for its first win against Edinboro in its first-ever match at McComb Fieldhouse.
