The Keydets (2-1) are coming off a loss at the hands of SEC power Missouri Sunday night in Columbia, Missouri. Junior forward TJ Johnson powered the Keydets with 21 points in the first half to keep VMI within 10 at halftime, 40-50, but VMI's opening half output was not enough as the Tigers pulled away for an eventual 106-68 win on their home court.

VMI at Richmond is One Week Away!
The Keydets travel to the University of Richmond next Wednesday, November 19 at 7 p.m. Tickets for the big event are still available and can be purchased through the VMI Ticket Office at this link.

Johnson named SoCon Player of the Week
With VMI playing without SoCon Preseason Player of the Year Rickey Bradley, Jr. due to injury, Johnson has stepped up to lead the team and currently leads the NCAA in total points with 82 through three games to begin the season.

After opening the campaign with 19 points against Johnson & Wales, he scored a career-high 32 points in VMI's thrilling 78-74 come-from-behind win at Southern Indiana last Friday. Despite the tough ending for the team at Mizzou, Johnson still finished with 31 points on the day for his second consecutive game scoring 30+.  For his efforts last week, Johnson was named the SoCon Player of the Week by the league Monday after averaging 27.3 points per game over three games.

About VUL (0-0)
The Dragons have played a few scrimmage games with Coastal Carolina and Tennessee Tech to begin the 2025-26 season and Wednesday night's contest at VMI will also count as an exhibition for VUL. The Dragons fell by a 118-58 score to future SoCon school Tennessee Tech Monday night on the road.

The Dragons are led by Jacob Newman, who was named an NCCAA All-South First Team point guard last season.  Jarek Sasser led the Dragons with 12 points Monday night in the loss while Zaquavious Baker poured in 11 points. Dontate Creedland came off the bench and contributed 11 points.

All-Time Series (3-0)
The Keydets own a 3-0 all-time series advantage over the Dragons, including a 113-51 victory last season in Lexington. VMI opened the series with VUL in 2012 with a 102-61 victory and followed up with a 110-78 win in 2013.
