LEXINGTON, Va. – VMI Swimming & Diving hosts Davidson for the first home meet of the season at Goodall Pool at VMI Aquatic Center.
The men are coming off a big victory over Mount St. Mary's, while the women had five first-place finishers and nine short-course meter records snapped.
The Keydets have had consistent outings from
Stephen Russell, who has already claimed two first-place marks and four podium finishes, along with holding the fastest 1,000 Free time in the league.
Jack Mills stepped up big time against the Mountaineers, leading the team by breaking three short-course meter records and tallying three first-place finishes in the 200 Fly, 100 Free, and 200 IM. Also performing well was
Hudson Weinhagen, who destroyed a 13-year Rat (freshman) record in the second round of one-meter dives, tallying the fourth-highest score in the conference.
On the women's side, the freshmen duo of
Lacy Delzell and
Carissa Witte have been making their mark. Delzell claimed first in the 200 Back and second in the 100 Back against Mount St. Mary's, while Witte snagged first place in the 100 Fly and second in the 200 Fly.
Mackenzie Byrne has picked up where she left off from last season by shattering a pair of short-course meter records, taking first place in the 100 Free and second place in the 50 Free. In total, Byrne has recorded four podium finishes between freestyle and relays.
Shining on the boards has been
Isabelle Haer, who tallied a top-10 league dive against the Mountaineers. In her first set of dives during the last meet, she took home first place.
For Davidson, the men enter the meet 0-3, while the women stand 1-2. This will be the Wildcats' third-straight road meet.
