The Keydets (4-6) began the 2025 slate with impressive individual outings at the Purple Raider Open last weekend. VMI had six podium finishes with three bracket winners. Most impressive was 149-pounder
Patrick Jordon who went 6-0 and tallied five falls with four under three minutes with one pin being in 1:41. This season, Jordon has accumulated 12 pins in under 43 minutes.
Dyson Dunham controlled the 133-pound bracket, earning five wins, while
Braxton Lewis was crowned 184-pound champion after also going 5-0. With his success, Lewis bumped up to #30 on the WrestleStat rankings list for 184 pounders.
In the last conference dual against Appalachian State, VMI got a pair of decisions from Dunham and Lewis in the loss. This will be the Keydets' first road SoCon match of the season.
VMI is 6-34 all-time against Chattanooga dating back to 1984. The Keydets seek their first dual victory over the Mocs since 2003. Last season, Chattanooga got the best of VMI at Cormack Hall, 31-13.
