LEXINGTON, Va. – VMI Swimming & Diving will cross North Main Street for a dual against neighboring rival, Washington & Lee, at the W&L Natatorium on Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
VMI looks to end the regular season on a high note in its final dual meet against the Generals. The men seek their fifth win of 2024-25 which would be the most since the 2018-19 season when the Keydets nabbed six victories. For the women, VMI searches for the most wins in a single season in program history.
The Keydets are coming off a strong outing against a trio of foes last weekend at Goodall Pool. Freshman
Isabelle Haer has been impressive on the boards, earning a new personal best on the three-meter while capturing two first-place marks against American, Howard, and Saint Francis. Another standout performance came from the 200 medley relay team consisting of
Ava Phillips,
Parker Belle Fogle,
Emerson Cosner, and
Mackenzie Byrne who snapped an eight-year Rat record. The women have now broken nine records this season.
On the men's side, freshman
Jack Mills continued his successful collegiate debut by breaking his 200 butterfly Rat and team records in the win over American last weekend for his 10th total broken record. Mills also secured another victory in the 100 freestyle before sophomore
Matthew Picard picked up a win in the 50 freestyle. Freshman
Stephen Russell posted a first-place mark in the 500 freestyle for the Keydets' fourth individual victory of the meet.
Washington & Lee men hold a 5-2 record while the women go into the weekend 4-3. This will be the Generals' final home meet of 2025.
