Keydets draw with Bulldogs in Asheville

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Looking to pick up its fourth win of the young season, the VMI women's soccer team earned a 1-1 draw with host UNC Asheville Sunday afternoon at Greenwood Soccer Field in Asheville, North Carolina.

The Keydets got on the board first in the 16th minute (15:08) when Riley Boucher got behind the Bulldog defense and snuck a shot into the lower left corner of the net, her third goal of the season. The play started when goalie Whitney Tracy cleared the ball out of VMI territory to midfield where Cadee Hegarty received it. She launched the ball forward to Boucher, who took it in stride and got behind the defense for the score.

The Bulldogs equalized moments later, however, when Daysha Chaney took a cross from Aya Bjorkman-Tracy and Azalea Mihailovich to knot the score at 1-1 in what proved to be the game's final strike.
