Keydets fall short against Gardner-Webb

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – VMI Baseball (16-17, 2-4 SoCon) experienced some misfortune Friday evening to start the series against Gardner-Webb University (11-18, 2-7 Big South) at John Henry Moss Stadium.

The Keydets battled hard until the end but ultimately fell, 4-3, to the Runnin' Bulldogs. VMI will look to even the series tomorrow afternoon.
 
Key Stats
- VMI drew eight walks with Justin Starke and Owen Prince leading the team with two walks apiece
Trey Morgan was a dual threat for VMI, going six innings with three strikeouts on the mound and then dishing out two doubles at the plate
- Grayson Fitzwater and Cole Raile each knocked in one RBI
- Caden Plummer was untouchable in relief, throwing two innings with no hits or runs while striking out three
- Kazuya Jordan stole three bases
