SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The VMI Water Polo Team dropped its morning contest to Augustana (16-8), but finished the day strong with a 19-5 victory over Carthage.

Game 1 – vs. Augustana – L, 8-16
- Augustana jumps out 2-0, but Sydney and Sadie Smith each strike to even the score
- Each time Augustana looked to pull away, VMI would answer and keep the game within a score going into half
- The Keydets opened the third quarter with a goal from Sydney Smith to even the contest at 5-5
- The teams continued to trade goals with Novotny making it 7-5 midway through the third
- Augustana would eventually go on a run, outdistancing VMI 16-8
Game 2 – vs. Carthage – W, 19-5E
- Casillas gets the start, Day collects five goals in the second half
- The Firebirds would draw first blood, but VMI immediately answered as Sarah Fitzsimmons scored just a minute into the quarter
- The Keydets got into a rhythm, as four different Keydets scored to end the first quarter leading 6-2
- VMI would tack on three more goals in the second, as Caragh Osborne sent VMI into the half with a 9-2 advantage
- The second half was much of the same, with the Keydets continuing to add to the deficit, securing the 19-5 victory

VMI moves its record to 3-4 on the season, capping off the Macalester Invite on Sunday when they rematch with McKendree.
