LEXINGTON, Va. – After a fast start on Wednesday, the VMI Swim and Dive program picked up where it left off, setting two more relay records as well as an individual record.
Swimming Free
- The senior duo of Chino Vera and Dalton Cosner bookended the 200-yard freestyle relay, as Max Brunner and Sam Castle (both freshman) helped the Keydets post a new record time of 1:23.51
- On the women's side, Kate Taylor and Jillian Maher led off their 200-yard freestyle relay, with Walden Wilder and Noelle Tong finishing strong for women's program record of 1:38.46
- Vera was able to earn three points for the Keydets with a 50-yard free time of 21.12 seconds in both the prelims and final
- Picard upped his game in the final, clocking a 20.64 after a 21.15 prelim time, with Brunner (21.31) and Cosner (21.35) just behind him
Groundhog's Day
- A night after setting a rat and team record in the 200 free, Matthew Picard would do the same in the 50-yard freestyle, clocking in at 20.64 seconds
Finishing Strong
- In the 200 IM, Ethan Griffith swam a 1:51.90 in the prelim and a 1:53.25 in the finals to collect 12 points for VMI
- In the same event, Elijah Fields would shave nearly two seconds off his time, finishing with a 1:53.87
