VMI travels to Richmond for final non-conference game

The VMI basketball team travels to in-state rival Richmond for its final non-conference game of the season. Tip-off with the Spiders is set for a 6 p.m. start at the Robins Center in Richmond, Virginia.

About Richmond (4-8, 0-0)
After defeating Mount Olive in the season opener, the Spiders have found success in spurts during the 2024-25 campaign. Following three straight losses to Marist, Charlotte and Bucknell. Richmond earned a pair of wins over Maine and Florida Tech. The Spiders are coming off recent losses to tough opponents in #2 Auburn and Belmont and face William & Mary on the road Thursday night in advance of Saturday's showdown against VMI.
 
DeLonnie Hunt leads the Spiders with 18.8 points per game followed by Mikkel Tyne (10.6) and Dusan Neskovic (10.1). Guard Jonathan Beagle leads the team in assists with 3.0 per outing and Collin Tanner also helps distribute the ball with 2.1 assists per contest.
 
All-Time Series History vs. Richmond (44-87)
In a series dating back to 1915, the Keydets and Spiders meet for the 132nd all-time meeting Saturday night in Richmond. The Spiders hold an 87-44 advantage in the all-time series record.
VMI looks to snap a four-game Richmond winning streak as VMI last earned a win over the Spiders back on December 31, 2008, a close 73-70 victory at Cameron Hall, also marking the last time Richmond played in Lexington.

The VMI basketball team got ahead early and never looked back en route to a 100-61 win over visiting Regent University last Thursday night in the final non-conference home game of the season.
 
VMI pulled ahead 16-5 by the first media timeout of the game – including treys by Linus Holmstrom, Cal Liston and Rickey Bradley - and never relinquished the advantage by cruising to a 54-28 lead at halftime.
 
The Keydets earned their biggest lead of the contest with a little over three minutes left in regulation at 43 points as VMI earned the easy win over its final non-Division I opponent of the season.
