LEXINGTON, Va. – VMI Wrestling opened the Southern Conference slate with a challenging loss to reigning conference champions Appalachian State at Cormack Hall Thursday night.
The Keydets fell to the Mountaineers, 40-6, getting two decisions in the process. VMI drops to 4-5 overall and holds a 0-1 SoCon record while App State earns its first dual victory of the year, moving to 1-2 overall with a 1-0 conference split.
Getting the Keydets on the board first was 184-pounder
Braxton Lewis who tallied an 8-1 decision while earning 2:16 riding time win number 11. Capping off the evening was
Dyson Dunham at 133 pounds, earning a 7-3 decision for his seventh season victory.

Next Up for the Keydets
The Keydets hit the road to Durham, North Carolina for a battle against the Duke Blue Devils on December 22 at 1 p.m. inside Cameron Indoor Stadium. In 2022, VMI picked up a massive 28-9 home victory over Duke. The Keydets seek their first win in Durham since 2010. VMI, Duke will be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra and ESPN+.
