BETHLEHEM, Pa. – VMI Wrestling finished day one of the Journeymen Wrestling tournament with a pair of duals against Franklin & Marshall and Sacred Heart Saturday at Freedom High School.

The Keydets made a valiant comeback effort, but the Diplomats' early lead sealed the 23-22 victory. Sophomore
Patrick Jordon picked up another pin at 149 pounds while junior
Ryan Vigil scored a 9-0 major decision at 165 pounds to begin the comeback.
VMI would go on to win the last three bouts with junior
Braxton Lewis earning a fall in 3:50 at 184 pounds followed by a 9-0 major decision by sophomore 197-pounder
Toby Schoffstall. Closing out VMI's day was
Josh Evans who handled his opponent, 4-2, at 285 pounds, but it was just short of earning the team win.
VMI vs. Sacred Heart
VMI would rebound the first loss with a solid 24-19 victory over the Pioneers. Sophomore
Phoenix Alyea put VMI in the scoring column at 141 pounds, pinning his opponent in 4:45.
Patrick Jordon continues to impress at 149 pounds, earning his second fall of the day (2:22). Jordon is now 7-0 with four pins this year.

Ryan Vigil, who earned a 5-0 decision, and 184-pounder
Braxton Lewis, who pinned his opponent in 3:50, also recorded their second wins of the day. Closing out the event was
Toby Schoffstall at 197 pounds with a quick 0:57 pin.
