VMI to face George Washington in D.C.

LEXINGTON, Va. – Following a tough loss at Loyola Maryland Tuesday night, the VMI basketball team looks to get back in the win column Friday when the Keydets face the Revolutionaries of George Washington University.
 
Tip-off is set for a 2 p.m. start at the Charles E. Smith Center in Washington, D.C.

* VMI is coming off a close 67-70 loss at Loyola Maryland Tuesday night in Baltimore. Rickey Bradley, Jr. led the Keydets with a season-high 22 points – just two shy of his career-high – by hitting four treys on the night

About George Washington
The second A10 opponent VMI faces this season, the Revolutionaries enter the game with a 6-1 overall record with their only loss coming to Big 12 foe Kansas State last week at the Paradise Jam at the U.S. Virgin Islands.
 
GWU has wins this season over Hampton, North Carolina A&T, NJIT, Louisiana and most recently earned a 72-64 victory over Illinois State to conclude the Paradise Jam.
 
Darren Buchanan, Jr. leads the Revs with 15.7 points per outing and is followed closely by Rafael Castro and Gerald Drumgoole, Jr., who both average 12.3 points a contest.
 
All-Time Series History vs. George Washington (VMI  trails 17-44)
Former Southern Conference rivals, the Keydets and Revolutionaries have a long history with one another but have not faced off in 10 years as the two schools last met on Dec. 30, 2014, a 66-80 VMI loss on the road.
 
George Washington has won eight straight against the Keydets dating back to 1969, and owns a 44-17 all-time series advantage over VMI which goes all the way back to 1912.

Despite a season-high 22 points by junior guard Rickey Bradley, Jr., the VMI basketball team fell by a close 70-67 score to host Loyola University Maryland Tuesday night at Reitz Arena in Baltimore.
 
Bradley came just two points shy of his career high of 24 points as he hit four three-pointers on the night, including three in the first half. He also finished with six rebounds and three assists to lead VMI's efforts during the contest.
 
VMI (4-4, 0-0) came out firing and gradually built a lead throughout the opening half as TJ Johnson finished the exciting stanza with a steal on the defensive half and connected on a halfcourt heave to lift VMI to a strong 42-30 advantage at the break
 
The Greyhounds gradually cut into the deficit and eventually pulled ahead on a pair of free throws to make the score 58-57 with 6:17 left on the clock and withheld VMI's final push in the closing minutes to come out on top.
