Basketball heads to inaugural Greenbrier Tip-Off

LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI basketball team looks to match its best start in 14 years as the Keydets play two games this Friday and Saturday in the River Division of the inaugural Greenbrier Tip-Off at the famed Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.

The Keydets (3-0) can match the 5-0 start from the 2010-11 season with two victories this weekend. VMI faces Tennessee Tech Friday at 3:30 p.m., then will face either Charleston Southern or UT Rio Grande Valley Saturday in either the championship game or the Third-Fourth Place game.

QUICK HITS
* The Keydets last opened a season 3-0 in 2010-11, a campaign that began 5-0 before VMI first loss. VMI can match that start with two wins at The Greenbrier Tip-Off
* Indiana State transfer Augustinas Kiudulas is averaging 22.0 points per game after putting up 27 against Washington College in the season opener and 17 versus Bellarmine this past Saturday. He did not play Tuesday night against Christendom
* Lipscomb transfer TJ Johnson is averaging 18.0 points per game and hitting 60.0 percent from the field (21-35). He leads the team with 12 three-pointers after three contests
* Pacific transfer Tan Yildizoglu broke a VMI record with 15 assists in the season opener against Washington College. He topped the previous single-game assists record of 14 - which stood for nearly 30 years - held by Bobby Prince against Western Carolina on January 14, 1995

A win over Tennessee Tech would ...
-- Give VMI a 1-0 record over the Golden Eagles as the schools have never met
-- Be VMI's first 4-0 start since the 2010-11 campaign when the Keydets opened the year with a 5-0 mark
