LEXINGTON, Va. – VMI Swimming & Diving kicks off the 2024-25 campaign this Saturday when the Keydets travel to Davidson, North Carolina for the season-opening meet at Charles A. Cannon Pool.
The men will go toe-to-toe with Davidson while the women will face Davidson and UNC Asheville in a tri-meet.
The Keydets look to pick up where they left off last season, breaking 26 VMI program records (team, individual, Rat) during the America East Championships. Making a key return for the men is
Matthew Picard who holds three Rat, three team, and two relay records after a stellar 2023-24 campaign.
Max Brunner and
Sam Castle also etched their names in the Rat record book last year. Looking to make a big impact on the boards this season will be
Lane Jones who produced the best score in the 1- and 3-meter dives.
On the women's side, VMI adds seven freshmen to the mix. The Keydets also have experience on the roster, including
Noelle Tong, who held the fastest 50, 100, and 200 backstroke times last season, and
Walden Wilder, who broke the Rat record in the 400 IM. VMI will bring in a pair of new divers,
Ollie Hobbs and
Isabelle Haer.
