Keydets fall to Furman in return to Cameron Hall

LEXINGTON, Va
. – After a two-game Southern Conference road swing, the VMI basketball team fell to visiting Furman by a 100-60 score in its return to Cameron Hall Wednesday night.
 
Three Keydets scored in double figures, including freshman Tyran Cook (14), senior Devin Butler (11) and freshman Stephen Olowoniyi (14).
 
The Keydets (3-15, 0-5) kept pace with the Paladins (9-9, 3-2) early on, but Furman's Carter Whitt caught fire and scored 15 points to lead the visitors to a 41-26 lead at the half. The Paladins finished the game shooting nearly 50 percent from three-point range (18-37) while the Keydets struggled from beyond the arc shooting 20 percent (5-25).

*Olowoniyi nearly recorded his second double-double of the season by logging 14 points to go with eight rebounds
*Sophomore Taeshaud Jackson II tallied 13 rebounds, one off his season high
*VMI senior Jake Johnston scored his first point of the season, which was the final point for VMI at the free-throw line after he was fouled going to the hoop in the final minute
*Furman was paced by Alex Williams' 23 points as he went 5-8 from beyond the arc while Whitt finished with 21 points, also yielding five treys over the course of the game. Marcus Foster (18) and P Jay Smith (13) also finished in double figures
