GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – The VMI men's soccer team held Long Island University scoreless for the first 60 minutes Monday afternoon, but the Sharks posted a 4-0 victory in a contest played on Adelphia University's Motamed Field. The Keydets conclude their four-game road trip to begin the season.
How it happened:
*The contest was tied 0-0 until LIU's Andre Puente scored at the 60:06 mark of the second half and the Sharks added three goals in the final 15 minutes
*Senior defender
Malcolm McIntosh headed a ball that beat the LIU goalie but hit off the post while the game was still 1-0
*Sophomore
Zack Murphy made five saves in net
*VMI earned four corner kicks and took six shots, two from
Kyle Grant
*The Keydets held opponents without a goal for nearly 138 minutes after posting a clean sheet against Maritime College Saturday
*LIU was picked to finish second this year in the Northeast Conference and defeated UConn Friday evening
