LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI men's soccer team opens the 2023 season Thursday with a non-conference game at Robert Morris University in Moon Township, Pa. The contest will be played at the North Athletic Complex at 4 p.m.

Last year:
The
Keydets gave up just 11 goals in conference play last year, the fewest allowed since the 2006 season when VMI was in the Big South Conference and the least in
SoCon play since 1982. VMI allowed 41 goals overall, compared to 72 in 2021.
Last year vs. the Colonials:
Robert Morris won a tightly contested matchup in 2022 with the Keydets 2-1 on Patchin Field on October 14.
Tate Pospichal scored on a feed from
Alexei Royar in the ninth minute to give VMI a 1-0 lead.
The Schedule:
The Keydets open the season with four non-conference road contests, including a trip to the Naval Academy. VMI's home opener is set for Saturday, Sept. 9 against Presbyterian College at 1 p.m. It is also the program's Alumni Reunion.
Other home non-conference contests include dates with Radford, Liberty and Regent Universities. Senior Day is set for October 7 against Furman University and the
Keydets also host another Southern Conference foe in
ETSU on October 14. VMI will travel to Mercer (Sept. 30),
Wofford (Oct. 21) and
UNCG (Oct. 28) in
SoCon play.
