LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI baseball team rallied from a 5-2 deficit to force extra innings Tuesday, but fell 6-5 to visiting William & Mary in 11 frames in a non-conference game in Gray-Minor Stadium.
The Tribe led 5-2 entering the bottom of the seventh, but a two-run home run from
Zac Morris and a solo shot from
Trey Morgan knotted the game at five. W&M's Tank Yaghoubi tripled and scored on a throwing error with two outs in the 11
th for the go-ahead run. VMI loaded the bases in the bottom of the inning with two outs, but a fly out ended the game.

*Morris was 2-3 with a walk, while Morgan and
Cole Garrett each also had two hits

Justin Starke belted his team-leading 12
th home run in the first inning
*Garrett and
Cole Jenkins doubled
*Morgan tossed two scoreless innings of relief

Andrew Jones and
Hunter Sipe each threw 1 1/3 innings of hitless relief out of the bullpen

Marcus Van Alstine worked a scoreless frame
*Cole Ragone was 2-3 for W&M (28-18) with a double, a home run and two walks
