LEXINGTON, Va. – Juniors
Cole Garrett and
Jed Barrett each homered twice Tuesday to lead the VMI baseball team to a 16-1 win in seven innings over visiting Norfolk State University in non-conference action from Gray-Minor Stadium.
The Keydet offense homered five times and rapped 18 base hits on the evening, and seven pitchers held the Spartans to just one run and three hits.
Garrett homered in back-to-back at bats in the third and fourth frames, while Barrett left the yard in consecutive at bats in the fourth and sixth innings. Barrett finished 4-4 with five RBI, three runs scored and a double. Garrett went 2-3 with two walks and three RBI. VMI improves to 22-19 on the year.
