Keydets to Face Furman, ETSU this Week

LEXINGTON, Va. – After winning its first SoCon game of the season last week on the road at The Citadel, the VMI basketball team continues league action at home versus Furman Wednesday night before traveling to ETSU for a Friday night contest in Johnson City, Tennessee.

Behind a team-high 16 points from freshman Rickey Bradley, Jr. season-high rebounding efforts from freshmen Taeshaud Jackson II (16) and Tyler Houser (12), the Keydets (6-19, 1-11) earned their first league game of the year and Coach Wilson's first career SoCon win at the helm. Freshman Asher Woods chipped in 15 points and logged a season-high five assists to keep the Bulldogs at bay from mounting a comeback.
 
About Furman
The Paladins have won six-straight contests, all in the Southern Conference, to improve to 19-6 overall and 10-2 in league play.
Forward Jalen Slawson was named the SoCon Player of the Week after averaging 15.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 4.0 steals and 1.5 blocked shots per game in a pair of conference wins.
Slawson opened his week with his seventh double-double of the season in Wednesday's 79-58 win over Chattanooga, as he scored 15 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. In Saturday's 80-67 win over Wofford Slawson scored a team-best 16 points and had nine rebounds and four steals, both game highs.
 
About ETSU
The Mocs split their last two contests, defeating Wofford College 77-52 but falling 73-62 at Samford to move to 9-16 overall and 5-7 in the conference.
Jalen Haynes paces ETSU with 14.2 points per game and is second with 6.1 rebounds. Jordan King scores 13.9 points a game with 50 three pointers and Jaden Seymour ranks third in the SoCon with 7.3 rebounds per outing.
