LEXINGTON, Va. –
A strong rebounding effort helped the VMI men's basketball team defeat Penn State New Kensington, 82-65, Friday afternoon in Cameron Hall in the Keydets' last non-conference game of the season.
 
VMI outrebounded the Nittany Lions 46-26 on the day, led by sophomore Taeshaud Jackson II with 14 to tie a season high and just two shy of his career high. Junior guard Brennan Watkins grabbed a career-high eight boards, all on the defensive end.
 
Tyran Cook paced VMI with 17 points, while Jackson and Watkins each scored 15. Jackson earned his eighth career double-double by posting 15 points to go with 14 rebounds on the day.

*VMI led 37-27 at the break and used an 11-4 run early in the second half to go ahead 52-36
*Watkins also had a game-high six assists for a full stat line
*Jackson finished with 15 points, one shy of his career high
*Devin Butler a season-high 14 points
*AJ Clark contributed five points, five assists, three rebounds and three steals while Corey Chesley had five points and four rebounds
*VMI shot 53.2 percent for the game (33-62) and 44.4 percent from three-point range (12-27)
*Aubrey Feaster scored 17 for PSNK and Jadyn Benson had 15 points to go with a team-high eight rebounds
 
Next Time
The Keydets are off until the New Year, and open Southern Conference play January 3 at Wofford College at 7 p.m.
