VMI travels to Longwood for Sunday contest

LEXINGTON, Va. –
The VMI basketball team will play its second road game of the week Sunday when the Keydets (2-9) travel to face Longwood (11-1) Sunday at 2 p.m. at the brand new Joan Perry Brock Center in Farmville, Virginia.

VMI vs. Longwood Series History (10-4)
Sunday's game marks the 15th all-time meeting between the schools with VMI holding a 10-4 advantage in the series dating back to 1982. In the last four matchups, the schools have split 2-2. Longwood won the 2022 game by a 90-58 count in Farmville, but VMI won the 2020 game by a score of 84-71 at home. VMI won the 2017 contest at home before falling to the Lancers on the road in 2018.

LAST TIME OUT - December 12, 2023 - Radford 73, VMI 56 - Radford, Va.
    Freshman guard Tyran Cook tied his career high with 20 points, but the Radford University men's basketball team defeated VMI 73-56 Tuesday night in a non-conference game.
    Cook hit four three pointers and his point total was also a game high. Senior center DJ Nussbaum tied his career best with 14 points and he grabbed four rebounds. Radford held a 21-13 lead at the 11-minute mark of the first half. The Keydets fought back with a 10-1 run, capped by a Cook three-pointer, to take a 23-22 edge.The Highlanders led 39-30 at intermission and opened the second half with a 14-4 surge to pull away.
 
LAST TIME vs. LONGWOOD - Nov. 18, 2022 - Longwood 90, VMI 58 - Farmville, Va.
     Longwood University, the defending Big South Champion and an NCAA Tournament team a year ago, outscored the VMI men's basketball team 90-58 Nov. 18, 2022, in the opening game of the three-day JK 54 Classic hosted by Longwood. 
     Freshmen Tony Felder, Jr. and Tyler Houser paced VMI with 10 points, the third-straight game Felder, Jr. has reached double figures. Freshman Asher Woods netted nine points and added three assists and two steals, while senior Sean Conway hit three three-pointers for nine points. Freshman Ricky Bradley, Jr. scored eight points to go along with a game-best seven rebounds.
