A WIN OVER CHRISTENDOM WOULD ...

--- Be VMI's fourth straight victory in a home opener
--- Be VMI's first win of the 2023-24 season

LAST TIME OUT - November 6, 2023 - Richmond 93, VMI 75 - Richmond, Va.
Despite a career-high 24 points from junior guard Brennan Watkins, the VMI men's basketball team fell 93-75 at the University of Richmond Monday night, the season opener for both teams.
Watkins, who sat out last year with an injury, scored 13 points in the first half and 11 in the second half, shattering his old record of 14 set at New Orleans Nov. 26, 2021. He drilled five three pointers, also a career high.
The Spiders opened a 25-16 lead with 11:34 left in the first half, but three free throws and a three pointer from Watkins quickly cut the edge to 25-22. Richmond held a 55-36 lead at intermission and the Keydets outscored their hosts 39-38 in the second half.
Richmond's Jordan King, a transfer from ETSU, netted a game-best 34 points and hit six three pointers.

LAST TIME vs. CHRISTENDOM - November 20, 2019 - VMI 96, Christendom 20 - Lexington, Va.
The VMI men's basketball team had a record-setting evening on Nov. 20, 2019, as the Keydets defeated visiting Christendom College 96-20 in Cameron Hall.
The 20 points allowed was the fewest given up in program history and the 76-point win ranks second, trailing only VMI's 124-42 win over Johnson University from the 2014-15 season.
The Keydets scored the game's first 11 points and opened a 35-2 lead after 11 minutes. VMI led 54-13 at the half and held the Crusaders to just seven second-half points. Freshman guard Sean Conway posted a career and game-high 18 points, hitting 6-of-8 three-pointers with a game-high seven rebounds.
