LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI men's soccer team will honor its four seniors Saturday as the Keydets face Furman University in a Southern Conference match at 1 p.m. on Patchin Field for Senior Day.

About the Keydets:
VMI played a strong second half but fell 2-1 at Longwood on Tuesday. With just under six minutes left to play a set of quick passes from three freshmen led to a goal.
Amari Benjamin chipped in a feed from
Kyle Grant who had taken a cross from
Freddy Ferguson. The
Keydets had a final chance at a tie as freshman
Jesse Lee got a shot off close to the goal but the Lancer keeper made the save as time expired.
The
Keydets held a 7-5 edge in shots in the second half with a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks. VMI earned a 9-7 edge in corner kicks overall and had 12 shots on the day.
About Furman:
The Paladins improved to 6-3-1 overall with a 2-0 win over USC-Upstate on Tuesday. Furman is 1-0 in SoCon action, defeating UNC-Greensboro 1-0 Saturday. Christian Kraus paces the team with 14 points (5 goals, 4 assists) and Dylan Lane has three goals. The Paladins have faced a tough schedule, with early-season losses to no. 4 Duke and no. 16 Wake Forest.
History:
Furman won a hard-fought battle 2-1 last October in Greenville, S.C.
Grant Martin scored for VMI and the contest was very evenly matched, with the shot totals and corner kicks nearly identical.
