Keydets Fight Back, Fall to Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -
 Down by as many as 22 early in the second half, the VMI basketball team showed fight over the final minutes of the game but ultimately fell by an 85-78 score to host Chattanooga Saturday afternoon at McKenzie Arena in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

The Keydets (5-12, 0-4) fell behind by a 56-34 count at the 15:37 mark of the second half following a three by Chattanooga center and former Keydet Jake Stephens, who finished the contest with a season-high 37 points.
 
Game Summary
VMI kept fighting until the final buzzer, gradually trimming the deficit to seven on the final bucket by Rickey Bradley, Jr. with two seconds remaining.
 
Freshman guard Asher Woods led the Keydets with 19 points on the afternoon - including a season-high five threes -  while fellow freshman Tyler Houser logged 17 during the game – one shy of his season high - as he tallied 15 in the opening 20 minutes of play. Tony Felder, Jr. also earned a season-best four threes on the afternoon and Bradley finished with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
 
Behind Stephens' 37 points for Chattanooga, UTC's Jamal Johnson also finished in double figures with 13 points during the contest.

The Keydets end the two-game SoCon road swing by returning home to face league foe UNCG next Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Cameron Hall.
