Men’s Track Adds Pair of Signees

LEXINGTON, Va. – VMI Director of Cross Country and Track and Field Zack Scott announced Wednesday the signing of two track and field athletes to bolster the 2023 signing class for his program.
 
Thrower Rafe Clendenin (Northside Brandeis HS / San Antonio, Texas) and pole vaulter Cameron Thomas (Windsor HS / Windsor, Colo.) have signed on to join the program for the 2024 indoor/outdoor seasons.

 Rafe Clendenin

Clendenin adds depth to the throwing squad and is listed as one of the top returning discus throwers in the San Antonio area. He has five discus throws over 170 feet and a personal record of 180'7." He will also try out for the VMI football team.
Coach Scott on Clendenin:
"An exceptional student-athlete, Rafe has just begun to brush his potential in the circle as a thrower and is very capable of having an immediate impact as a collegiate freshman thrower."

Cameron Thomas

Thomas has started his senior year of high school track and field with impressive performances, including a 14'6" first meet height, 15'0" in the second and logged a personal-best 15'6" last week.
Coach Scott on Thomas:
"Cameron will be a great addition to our team and will have a role in Coach Wisecarver's plans for the pole vault group."
