LEXINGTON, Va.
– The VMI men's basketball team couldn't hold a second-half lead Saturday afternoon as The Citadel rallied for a 60-52 Southern Conference win in Cameron Hall.

The Keydet defense locked down the Bulldogs in the first half and opened a 23-14 lead. The Citadel shot just 20 percent from the floor with nine turnovers in the game's first 20 minutes.

The Bulldog offense got untracked after intermission and took their first lead of the game 43-42 with under nine minutes to play. The Keydets fought back after falling behind by nine at the 1:49 mark to trail just 56-52 but The Citadel sealed the game at the free throw line by making their last eight attempts. The Bulldogs hit all 17 of their free throws, including 14 in the second half.

VMI Head Coach Andrew Wilson
"I thought we played the right way. The breaks aren't falling our way right now, but I'm very proud of our team. Our kids have a tremendous amount of resilience and we are going to break through soon. Give The Citadel credit - Ed Conroy is one of the best in the country."
