Lam Nets Game-Winner as Keydets Defeat Southern Virginia

LEXINGTON, Va. – Senior midfielder Nathan Lam scored the game's only goal Thursday to lift the VMI men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over visiting Southern Virginia University in non-conference play on Patchin Field.

Beyond the box score
*Lam took a feed from teammate Leo White at the 58:41 mark and found the back of the net to break the scoreless tie
*Sophomore goalie Connor Cherry and the VMI defense limited the Knights to just six shots and recorded the programs' first shutout since the 2019 campaign
*The Keydet victory gives Nick Regan his first career win as the head coach of the VMI program
*Cherry made two saves on the afternoon and Drew Menges cleared a ball out of the goal area for a team save with 12 minutes remaining to preserve the shutout 

More numbers
*The Keydets fired 26 shots, including 12 on goal
*Dallin Chappell made 11 saves for SVU
