LEXINGTON, Va. – Despite a late first half goal from sophomore Zacharia Bouchachia, the Longwood men's soccer team defeated VMI 3-1 Wednesday in non-conference play.

The contest was the first of nine home games on the season for the Keydets.  

Inside the Box Score:

* Bouchachia's tally was assisted by Grant Martin to cut the Lancers lead to 2-1 at the 37:58 mark of the first half

* Jose Carlos scored twice and Marco Magnoli tallied a goal and two assists for Longwood (1-1)

* VMI senior keeper Gabe Calhoun made eight saves in the match, including six in the first half

* VMI had seven shots on the afternoon, including two on net.

* The Keydets had two corner kicks, one in each half

How it Happened:

*Magnoli scored two minutes into the contest and Carlos followed in the 22^nd minute. Carlos added an insurance goal with 20 minutes left to play

VMI (0-1-1) travels to Presbyterian College this Saturday for another non-conference match at 1 p.m. in Clinton, S.C.
