LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI men's soccer team opens the 2022 season Thursday at Saint Peters' University in Jersey City, New Jersey, with kickoff scheduled for 2 p.m.
The Keydets will be under the guidance of first-year head coach
Nick Regan, who spent the last two seasons in Lexington as an assistant. Captains
Nathan Lam,
Cole Mooney and
Jakub Mihulka are three of seven returnees from the 2021 squad.
A senior, Lam paced the Keydet offense with four goals and one assist in 2021, while Mooney had a goal and two assists. Mihulka looks to break into the starting lineup this fall after earning more time as the season progressed a year ago.
VMI has a lot returning on the back line, in
Alexei Royar (17 starts),
Drew Menges (10 starts),
Josh Lam (11 starts) and
Malcolm McIntosh (eight starts), while,
Woongchan Oh (17 starts) figures to play a key role in the midfield.
