VMI Swim & Dive Excels on Day 2 of Loyola Invite

London Yerasimides Named Female Diver of the Meet

BALTIMORE, Md. – The VMI men's and women's swimming and diving teams had many great performances Saturday on day two of the two-day Loyola University (H2ounds) Invitational.

Men's Highlights:

Malik Nelson broke the freshman record in the 100 free in a time of 46.73, edging the old record by .01. It is his second freshman record broken in his debut as a Keydet this weekend
Jack Sheehan finished eighth in the 100 breaststroke
The 200 Medley Relay of Chino Vera, Chase Lane, Nelson and Sheehan finished eighth
On the 3M board, senior Bridger Thurston earned second place with a score of 232.35. Michael Menton placed fifth with a new PR of 186.40 and Lane Jones'26 also recorded a new PR of 178.05.
The 200 free relay team of Sheehan, Nelson, Vera and Dalton Cosner finished sixth
Nelson, Vera, Sheehan and Cosner finished fourth in the 400 free relay. In the lead off of the relay, Nelson broke the freshman record in the 100 Free
Ethan Griffith took 7th in the 400 IM

Women's Highlights:

Sarah Liebenow finished sixth in the 400 IM
Rachel Greathouse finished eighth in the 200 Free
Noelle Tong swam to a seventh-place finish in the 100 backstroke
The 400 free relay of Tong, Greathouse, Kate Taylor and Julia Ward finished ninth
Senior London Yerasimides claimed 3rd place on the 1M board - she earned the Named Female Diver of the Meet award - winning the 3M diving competition Friday

The Keydets are off until the new year. The VMI women host Liberty University Friday, Jan. 14.
