LEXINGTON, Va. – Hoping for its third straight win overall and second in a row against Division I competition, the VMI basketball team earned a hard-fought 77-74 victory over in-state foe Radford University Saturday afternoon at Cameron Hall.

The game was tabbed as a Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer game sponsored by the Go4TheGoal Foundation as the coaching staffs from both teams donned gold laces and sneakers to promote the cause.

VMI trailed by as many as 13 points late in the first half but fought back the rest of the way, earning at tie at 67-67 with 3:45 to play and its first lead at 71-69 at the 2:01 mark. The Keydets got up by six in the final seconds as the Highlanders could not manage to keep pace down the stretch.

The Keydets (5-6) snapped Radford's two-game win streak in the series and the Highlanders' overall three-game win streak as Radford falls to 6-4 on the season and 1-4 on the road. VMI defeated Navy last weekend as Saturday's win marked a second straight victory against a Division 1 opponent.

How it Happened
*Five Keydets scored in double figures led by senior Sean Conway's game-high 23 points and six rebounds as five of his eight buckets were from beyond the arc. The other four were all freshmen (Tyler Houser, Asher Woods, Rickey Bradley, Jr. and Tony Felder, Jr) as Woods and Felder both finished with 16 a piece. Houser and Bradley finished with 11 and 10, respectively.
*VMI shot above 50 percent from the field (27-47, .574) and from three-point range (11-20, .550) during the course of the game
*Houser came up one rebound shy of a double-double as he logged nine boards to go with his 11 points on the day
*Bradley tallied seven rebounds and went 3-4 from the charity strip to aid the win
*Felder, Jr. logged his second highest point total of the season by contributing 16 to go with five helpers
*The Highlanders were led by 21 points from Kenyon Giles while DaQuan Smith poured in 15. Bryan Antoine and Onyebuchi Ezeakudo also scored in double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
