Keydets Open Homestand with Showdown against Navy

LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI men's basketball team opens a three-game homestand Saturday, welcoming the Naval Academy to Cameron Hall for a non-conference clash at 1 p.m. 

Freshman Asher Woods paced the Keydets with 14 points Tuesday at Presbyterian College and fellow freshman Tyler Houser poured in 13 points. Woods leads VMI in scoring with 14.5 points per game and ranks third in the Southern Conference in free-throw percentage (27-30; 90%).

About the Midshipmen
Navy is 5-2 on the year with both losses coming on the road, including Wednesday at Lipscomb 82-77.
Tyler Nelson leads Navy in many statistical categories, including scoring (15.1), rebounding (5.9), steals (10), three pointers (23) and three-point shooting percentage (54.8%). Daniel Deaver averages 11.7 points and 5.4 rebounds a game - and has handed out a team-best 30 assists on the year. 
Navy finished 21-11 in 2021-22 and advanced to the Patriot League Tournament finals. 

All-Time
Navy leads the all-time series 23-1 and had a narrow 68-62 win in the two teams' last meeting in December 2015 at Cameron Hall.
