LEXINGTON, Va. – The Mercer University men's soccer team earned a 2-0 victory at VMI Saturday in a Southern Conference game on Patchin Field.
Mercer, the defending SoCon Champions, defeated VMI 5-0 a year ago.

- Keydet senior netminder Gabe Calhoun made nine saves
- Nick Wanzer (17th minute) and Kadeem Agard (31st minute) each scored in the first half for the Bears
- The Keydets had five shots, three in the second half. Cole Mooney fired a team-high three
- VMI had an outstanding opportunity to cut the lead to one with under nine to play. Senior Nathan Lam headed a cross on goal, forcing Trevor McMullen to make a diving save to keep the ball out of the net
