Schull Saves 17 but ETSU Beats VMI 7-0

Box Score JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Despite a career-high 17 saves made by junior Keydet keeper Broden Schull, including 11 in the first half, East Tennessee State University (ETSU) defeated the VMI men's soccer team 7-0 Tuesday afternoon in a Southern Conference contest.

ETSU's Jared Leheta and Tarik Pannholzer each posted goals in the game's first 10 minutes. The Bucs added a goal each seven minutes before and after the halftime intermission to go ahead 4-0 and added three insurance goals in the final 22 minutes.

The Bucs (3-4-2/3-1-1) earned a spot in the four-team Southern Conference Tournament with the victory. Pannholzer recorded a hat trick with one assist.

ETSU held a 37-4 edge in shots and a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks.

The Keydets (2-8/0-5 SoCon) will close out the 2021 spring season Saturday at home against Wofford College. The program's six seniors will be recognized in a pre-match ceremony on Senior Day.
