LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI wrestling team hosts Appalachian State University and The Citadel in an important Southern Conference tri-meet on Friday in Cormack Hall.

The Keydets enter the day's matches with a 2-3 conference record (3-4 overall) and sit in fifth place. For the season, sophomore 149-pounder Job Chishko boasts an 8-1 record overall with three technical falls and one pin. Freshman Tyler Mousaw is also 8-1 at 197 pounds with a 4-1 mark in SoCon matches. Sophomore Zach Brown is 6-2 at 197 pounds while Blake Showers is 6-3 at 157. The Keydets two seniors, Cliff Conway and William Lawrence, will be honored in a ceremony before The Citadel match.

Appalachian State (5-2/5-1 SoCon) has won 10 Southern Conference Team titles, the last in 2018. The Mountaineers have four members of their potential starting lineup ranked in the top 20 of Flowrestling, including #12 Will Formato (165 lbs., 11-1).

The Citadel (4-4/3-3) dropped its last two matches to Campbell University and Davidson, but had won three-straight prior to last weekend. The Keydets and Bulldogs have had their last six matches decided by seven points or less each time, with VMI winning the last three years. Current Keydets Conway, Lawrence and Brown each won their matches last February to help VMI to a 20-19 victory in Charleston, S.C.
