LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI wrestling team will travel to North Carolina this Sunday to compete in the Gardner-Webb University tri-match with Bellarmine University. The Southern Conference matches are scheduled for noon with Bellarmine and 4 p.m. for GWU.

Freshman 197-pounder 
Tyler Mousaw won both of his matches Saturday as VMI split a Southern Conference tri-meet at Davidson College. The Keydets outlasted the host school 24-18 but fell to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga 36-3.
Mousaw secured the only fall of the match against Davidson, pinning his opponent in 3:24. Sophomore 
Job Chishko earned a 16-0 technical fall victory at 149 and freshman 
Blake Showers won a 12-0 major decision at 157. Freshman 184-pounder 
Chase Mielnik defeated Gavin Henry 7-5.
This is the first-time VMI and Bellarmine have meet in a wrestling dual. The Knights' first varsity season came in 2016-17 and the program has steadily improved before joining the SoCon this year. Bellarmine is 1-5 this season and 1-3 in conference action, coming off a tri-meet split with The Citadel (18-27 L) and Presbyterian (32-18 W).
Gardner-Webb is 0-7 this year with a 0-4 SoCon record. The Runnin' Bulldogs defeated VMI 23-15 last year in Lexington.
