DAVIDSON, N.C. – Freshman Tyler Mousaw won both of his matches Saturday as the VMI wrestling team split a Southern Conference tri-meet at Davidson College. The Keydets outlasted the host school 24-18 but fell to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga 36-3.

Mousaw, a freshman 197-pounder from Watertown, N.Y., secured the only fall of the match against Davidson, pinning his opponent in 3:24 to provide the margin of victory.

Sophomore Job Chishko earned a 16-0 technical fall victory at 149 and freshman Blake Showers won his match 12-0 at 157, a major decision. Freshman 184-pounder Chase Mielnik defeated Gavin Henry 7-5 and Cliff Conway won via forfeit at 125. Freddy Junko lost a tight 2-0 decision at 141.

Mousaw defeated his Chattanooga opponent 3-2 and sophomore Josh Yost won an extra match at 141 12-8. The Mocs are 4-0 in conference matches.

The Keydets (2-3/1-2) are back in action next Sunday at Gardner-Webb University for a SoCon tri-match with Bellarmine University.
