Beck, Richards Score Victories but VMI Falls to Bloomsburg

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Seniors Chris Beck and Neal Richards had impressive victories Friday night but the Bloomsburg University wrestling team defeated VMI 37-11 in non-conference action.

Beck trailed in his match late at 285 pounds, but turned the tables on his Huskie opponent and pinned his shoulders to the mat with just four seconds remaining in the match. It is Beck's second pin of the season and raises his record to 11-7 on the year.

Richards dominated his foe at 174 in a 19-2 technical fall win in 3:10. It was his 11^th-straight victory and he is now 31-6 on the year.

Senior Max Gallahan wrestled a weight class above his normal spot and was narrowly defeated 4-2 at 197.

VMI (4-10) hosts Gardner-Webb University next Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Campbell University Saturday at 4 p.m. in Southern Conference matches. VMI will honor its senior class prior to the match with GWU.
