VMI Wrestling to host Gardner-Webb and Campbell this weekend

LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI wrestling team will have a busy weekend coming up, as the Keydets host Gardner-Webb and Campbell Universities in Cormack Hall. The program's four seniors will be honored in a pre-match ceremony against GWU Friday at 7:30 p.m., while the match against the Camels will begin Saturday at 4 p.m. Both are Southern Conference contests and are the last two home matches of the year for VMI.

Seniors Chris Beck and Neal Richards had impressive victories last Friday night but Bloomsburg University defeated VMI 37-11 in non-conference action. Beck trailed in his match late at 285 pounds, but turned the tables on his Huskie opponent and pinned his shoulders to the mat with just four seconds remaining in the match. It is Beck's second pin of the season and raises his record to 11-7 on the year. Richards dominated his foe at 174 in a 19-2 technical fall win in 3:10. It was his 11^th-straight victory and he is now 31-6 on the year.

VMI defeated Gardner-Webb 21-19 last February in Boiling Springs, N.C., but lost at Campbell, the 2019 SoCon Champions, 38-3 four days later on the road.
