Neal Richards wins all three matches at VMI Quad

LEXINGTON, Va. – Red-shirt senior Neal Richards won all three of his matches Friday as the Keydet wrestling team hosted the VMI Quad from Cormack Hall. The Keydets defeated California Baptist 22-21 to open the action, but fell to Clarion (33-8) and Cleveland State (30-6) later in the day.

Freshman Noah Roulo earned a win in the first dual against California Baptist in a tiebreaker at 141 and Will Lawrence (157) and Jon Hoover (165) each won decisions.

Richards and Zach Brown each recorded pins at 174 and 197, respectively, and with the match tied at 21 after all 10 matches were finished, the referee determined that VMI prevailed after a tiebreaker.

Roulo captured a 6-0 victory against Clarion, and Richards won by technical fall. Max Gallahan took his match at 184, but lost in a tiebreaker session.  

Richards and Chishko each defeated their opponents from Cleveland State in the finale. Both Lawrence and Gallahan had tough sudden victory losses at 157 and 184.

VMI (4-6) travels to Sacred Heart Sunday for a non-conference match at 2 p.m.
