Appalachian State Defeats VMI 43-6
LEXINGTON, Va. – Red-shirt junior Neal Richards won his 10th straight match Sunday, but visiting Appalachian State University scored a 43-6 victory over VMI in a Southern Conference match.
Richards won his contest at 174 lbs. quickly, pinning his Mountaineer opponent in just 1:07, the shortest match of the afternoon. He is now 17-3 on the season with six victories by pin.
Appalachian State, the SoCon Champions for the last five seasons, controlled the rest of the dual match, with two falls, four technical falls and two major decisions.
VMI (2-8/1-1 SoCon) hosts the University of Virginia Friday at 7:30 p.m.
